Overview

The MEDC Industry 4.0 Technology Implementation Grant provides 50% reimbursement for eligible Industry 4.0 hardware and software investments, up to a maximum of $25,000. The competitive program supports Michigan small manufacturers adopting automation, AI, cybersecurity, IIoT, and other Industry 4.0 technologies. Applicants must complete an MMTC Technology Assessment or provide documented technology-selection strategy and must supply a cash match.

Financial awards may not exceed $25,000 per company and will reimburse up to 50% of eligible Industry 4.0 technology costs. Grants are reimbursement-based; companies are responsible for the remaining project costs and must provide a cash match.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be manufacturers (per NAICS code) operating a Michigan manufacturing facility and classified as a small business by SBA size standards. The Industry 4.0 project must occur at a Michigan facility and support adoption of Industry 4.0 technology. Companies must complete an MMTC I4.0 Technology Assessment prior to award or provide documentation of an executed strategy for selecting the technology to implement. Companies must be an Essential Member with Automation Alley (free) or an existing Automation Alley member. Awarded companies must be in good standing with the State of Michigan (LARA certificate of good standing required).
